Marking the release of “The Lost Missions,” the supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars reveals never-before-seen concept art.
I don’t think you guys know how much of a big deal this is to me.
See this image? See that guy in the bottom right corner, with the dreadlocks and yellow facial marking? That’s Quinlan Vos. A central character in the Star Wars: Republic series of comics by Dark Horse and my favorite Prequel Era Jedi.
From the looks of things, they were going to adapt and expand upon Quinlan’s role in the Clone Wars series of Republic comics where he was tasked with infiltrating Count Dooku’s Dark Acolytes in order to discover the identity of “the second Sith”. Not only that, it also looks like as part of his assignment with Dooku, he’d have been tasked to deal with the problem of Darth Maul as the latter moves to strike at both sides of the Clone Wars with the remains of his Mandalorian army (which we’ll be seeing in the upcoming Dark Horse comic series to cap off The Clone Wars, Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir.
This was going to go into a 7th Season, if you read the filename for the above concept art. Not only would Quinlan do all of the above, he would have also saved Asajj Ventress from an undisclosed fate (probably involving Dooku). That or Asajj dies (probably by Dooku’s hand). It would make sense putting them in the same arc, considering they’d have something of a similar history. I would have been able to see my favorite Prequel Era Jedi in a central role since getting shafted after the Hunt for Ziro, as seen below.
Adding onto that, we would have seen more of what’s been going on on Kashyyyk, Mon Calamari, and Mandalore. We would have seen more of the Bounty Hunters that they weren’t able to complete for this release of Season 6. We would have seen the return of Echo.
We could have seen all of this, and Disney had to go and cancel it both because it was probably getting too violent, and to save money. Lucas was paying out of his pocket for this gradually spectacular show and Disney decided to make all of that null and void.
Fuck Disney, man. First 1313, and now this.
I love this post so much.
